My creative journey started at art school, training as a graphic designer at Swindon and Cornwall colleges of art and design. From those early begins I was always interested in the illustration side of the business and after many years as a designer I ended up as a successful landscape artist. I also have an interest in portraiture which has been strongly influenced by John Singer-Sargent and the captivating work of Edward Hopper.
My landscape paintings are a definite escape for me and I can get lost on the high fells for hours when i am painting. I don’t want to give the viewer what they are expecting to see, but rather summon some emotion about a place or an atmosphere, or a different viewpoint. I definitely paint for myself primarily and if you like my work as a result then thats great.
