Tessa Kennedy

Tessa Kennedy is an original and powerful artist. Best known for her bold unconventional watercolours, her daring instinctive technique makes her a powerful landscape painter.

Like many artists who are self-taught, she is driven by strong motivation and inner resources. It is from her climbing and walking in the mountains of Cumbria that Tessa finds  the inspiration to express  her ideas.  She paints boldly   and quickly, using any material that will help her express what she sees and feels.  Gouache, ink, wax and pastel are used together with watercolour. ‘A painting is finished when I’ve got the feel of the place, the essence, the right balance.’

Tessa, after raising her children, feels increasingly the draw to travel abroad and looks forward to expanding her horizons and what it may bring to her painting. Tessa spends a lot of her working time in Spain, and the different light is very much reflected in some of her new work.
